NORCROSS, Ga., Oct. 6, 2016 – WestRock and CDF Corp. announced today the launch of Meta® Pail, a sustainable replacement to rigid pails developed specifically for semi-viscous and dry products.

The Meta® Pail System combines WestRock’s unique and patented Meta® 8 box design and the Smart Pail® developed by CDF. It incorporates an easy open top for access to pour, pump, stir, or scoop products. It provides customers with a lighter, environmentally friendly, recyclable packaging, helping users to reach sustainability goals via less packaging weight, reduced space footprint and lower carbon footprint vs. typical 5 gallon plastic pail.

“The WestRock - CDF alliance is the integration of two innovative products in their own right and is for traditional plastic pail users seeking a lightweight, cost effective, recyclable and space saving alternative,” said Veronica Savage, segment marketing manager, WestRock. “We feel that amongst all current plastic pails being used in various industries, Meta® Pail offers a more sustainable and cost effective alternative solution.”

The Meta® Pail by WestRock is designed to be a more sustainable, efficient and cost effective alternative to plastic pails, which allows for excellent pallet stack strength and efficiencies, branding opportunity and ease of disposal. The Smart Pail® by CDF is a semi-rigid thermoformed collapsible insert with a peel/reseal lidding film that allows the end-user to collapse the pail system creating a 4 to 1 space savings over a rigid plastic pail while reducing packaging weight.

“The WestRock and CDF co-marketing and co-branding agreement creates an alliance for this product line that offers an excellent combination of talent, resources and scale to help our customers meet their sustainability goals more easily,” said Joe Wanner, product manager, CDF Corp.  “Our two organizations complement each other, which is great, but the true advantage is for the customer who can access a product, along with a trained national team, that will add value at every point of the supply chain.”

Product Highlights:

  • Easy open Peel Reseal Lid Film
  • Collapsible and easy to dispose/recycle
  • Up to 50% less weight than a typical 5 gallon Pail
  • 48 five gallon units per pallet with double pallet stack capability
  • Meta® Pail is environmentally friendly, recyclable packaging, helps users to reach sustainability goals via less packaging weight, reduced space footprint and lower carbon footprint vs. typical 5-gallon plastic pail
  • The Meta® Pail System ensures the absolute purity of the product
