WestRock and Manufacturing Day: Spotlight on Packaging

Manufacturing Day 2018 spotlights the many benefits of a career in the manufacturing industry. WestRock is proud to play a role in this national event by inviting students into several U.S. facilities in a series of events this fall.

WestRock offers rewarding careers, from fabricators and designers to engineers and researchers. With 45,000 employees around the world, we are excited to show students that the job options are endless in a sector that also has many economic benefits. According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, in 2017 alone, manufacturing contributed $2.3 trillion to the economy and provided quality jobs for more than 12 million Americans, or nearly 9 percent of the labor force.

Manufacturing Day was created by national leaders to unite thousands of companies, large and small, to showcase modern industry to students, teachers, job seekers and community figures. Manufacturing is growing at a rapid pace, however, there is a shortage of talent to fill the roles. It is expected that nearly 3.5 million new manufacturing jobs will be needed by 2025, but 2 million of these roles may go unfilled.

As the leading provider of differentiated paper and packaging solutions, we know the success of the quality, innovative products we make every day hinges upon the manufacturing skillsets of our talented employees. This year, WestRock is hosting six Manufacturing Day events in New York, Virginia, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama and Florida. We want people to see the attractive packaging industry first-hand, along with the highly motivated individuals that make it successful.
