2017 Women in Manufacturing Winner

2017 STEP Ahead honoree Tammie Siracusa

WestRock is making a difference for women in manufacturing: One of our own has been honored by The Manufacturing Institute under a national program to foster female careers in the industry. Tammie Siracusa, Southeast Area Vice President of the Corrugated Packaging Solutions division, has been selected as a 2017 Women in Manufacturing Science, Technology, Engineering and Production (STEP) Ahead Awards Honoree. The national award recognizes Tammie for her outstanding work as a manufacturer, a WestRock employee and a leader in her community.

The manufacturing industry faces a serious gender gap, with women accounting for only 27 percent of the manufacturing workforce.[1] To address the underrepresentation of women in the manufacturing industry, The Manufacturing Institute launched STEP Ahead in 2012. The initiative provides a venue for women to mentor and support the next generation of female talent to pursue manufacturing careers.

In Tammie’s 23 years with WestRock and its predecessor companies, she has served in many leadership positions. For the last five years, Tammie has managed multiple manufacturing plants, overseeing full P&L responsibility for sales, operations and all key performance metrics. Today, Tammie leads a team of 600-plus employees that span across seven manufacturing plants.

Throughout her career, Tammie has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to WestRock’s commitment of operating an inclusive work environment. “Tammie has always led by example and truly embodies WestRock’s core values – integrity, respect, accountability and excellence – in everything she does,” said Don Sparaco, WestRock senior vice president.

Tammie has mentored and advised many co-workers during her tenure, encouraging teammates to take initiative, be proactive and focus on results that create value for clients. Under Tammie’s guidance, many of her mentees have been promoted into advanced roles.

In addition to these efforts, Tammie regularly participates in WestRock’s General Manager College, a development program for high-potential employees looking to serve in General Manager roles within the manufacturing plants.

In her personal time, Tammie is passionate about serving the community. She enthusiastically supports many non-profits in the Atlanta-area, raising money for Boys and Girls Club, participating in Relay for Life, serving families in need through the Young Men’s Service League with her two sons, and sponsoring food drives.
