One of WestRock's diversity business council partners, The Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC), is holding bus tours throughout the state to provide an opportunity for minority business executives to meet with various companies to gain valuable exposure to potential corporate clients. The tour gives participants a chance to connect directly with procurement leads and executives, while learning more about a company's operations – all valuable information for prospective suppliers.
The first stop on the 2017 GMSDC bus tour was WestRock’s Covington, Georgia corrugated box plant. Keya Grant, manager, supplier diversity, and a member of the GMSDC board of directors, hosted the visit of the Covington facility. "I'm a longtime member of GMSDC, so I was extremely excited about the opportunity to expose potential business partners to the inner workings of WestRock. We're always looking for capable diverse suppliers who can join our supply chain and add value," shared Keya. "The bus tour concept is a wonderful way to let people see for themselves some of the many products and processes that exist within our company. Our hope is that many of those who visited will soon become WestRock business partners."
Stacey Key, GMSDC president and CEO, shared that she sees tremendous promise in the bus tour concept. "The tour allows us to facilitate new relationships between our corporate partners and our very talented minority business executives, who they might never meet without the bus tour," says Stacey.
